Driven scientist for supporting the development of implantable/injectable dosage forms of biologics and gene therapies (ex. AAV) for preclinical use. This includes the development of formulations, process, and analytical developments for overall product characterization. The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated problem solver with high attention to detail, work with a sense of urgency, and uphold our core values.




  • Support the development of novel controlled release drug delivery products from ideation, prototyping, and proof of concept evaluation.
  • Formulate freeze-dried products of biologics and assess drug release through dissolution/release kinetic studies.
  • Perform bioanalytical assays to support formulation development of AAV based gene delivery program.
  • Support research activities to further the understanding AAV biology and therapeutics.
  • Identify and apply effective resolutions to technical challenges throughout the project.
  • Create and maintain clear, concise lab records, and documentation.
  • Engage and work with CROs and vendors to source materials and to execute experiments.
  • Fabricate implants of varying product configurations to evaluate sustained release in-vitro and in-vivo.
  • Design and execute experimental plans.
  • Serve as an R&D member on cross functional project teams; may interact with Product Development, Operations, and Quality personnel to support product development activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.



  • Bachelor’s Degree in chemistry, biochemistry, molecular or cell biology, or related discipline with 0-2 years of academic or industry research experience, OR a Master’s Degree with 0-2 years relevant experience. 
  • Previous experience in medical device, pharmaceutical, research and development and/or pharmaceutical product development preferred.
  • Experience with AAV vectors is highly desired.
  • Experience working in sterile/aseptic conditions is a plus.
  • Experience/knowledge of bioanalytical characterization techniques, such as PCR/qPCR, SDS-PAGE, ELISA, Western Blot is a plus.
  • Experience in formulations and/or process development for injectable/implantable drug products is a plus.
  • Experience with Hydrogels is a plus.
  • Knowledge of safe laboratory practices.
  • Demonstrated problem solving ability using solid foundations in scientific principles.
  • A hard-working team player that is passionate about science and can effectively collaborate in a dynamic, cross-functional environment.
  • Knowledge of statistical methods and design of experiments methodology.
  • Maintain a strong work ethic and good documentation practices.
  • Strong technical writing, interpersonal, and communication skills.
