Overview

Clinical research expert responsible for the co-development and execution of Medical Affairs scientific strategies spanning investigator initiated trials, clinical development studies (phase 1-4), and payer-informed research activities. Medical Directors contribute to the development of research questions, data analysis, interpretation, presentation, and publication of Ocular Therapeutix data across the Ophthalmology Scientific and Payer Communities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide rigorous strategic and critical-review of all submitted investigator-initiated trial concepts and protocols across ophthalmic programs.
  • Serve as Research Scientist in support of Ocular Therapeutix clinical development phase 1-4 programs
  • Provide critical-thinking analysis and input on behalf of development of secondary analysis research-question development across ophthalmic portfolio
  • Develop Medical Strategy plans across Ophthalmic Sub-specialties
  • Develop and Execute Medical Affairs Advisory Boards across Ophthalmic Sub-specialties
  • Support abstract, medical presentations, and publication development
  • Serve as a key clinical liaison to ophthalmic surgeons
  • Serve as Medical expert/strategist on behalf of Market Access initiatives
  • Scientific delivery of data presentations to physicians, external forum presentations, payer/CMS medical presentation forums, and Congress presentations upon request.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with professional associations
  • Communicate company and pipeline updates across Ophthalmic sub-specialties
  • Develop and support Competitive Intelligence Strategic Planning
  • Obtain physician insights on marketed and pipeline products
  • Compliant Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Provide cross-functional medical input and expertise for other functions/training
    •Contribute to the creation and validation of medical communication materials
    •Support the execution of Medical Congress plans on behalf of Medical Affairs Strategy
  • Support Clinical Operations via identification of investigator sites and clinical training at the investigator site level

Qualifications

  • Extensive demonstrated research experience (publications preferred)
  • Advanced degree with health science background (MD, OD, PhD, PharmD etc.) with demonstrated Ophthalmic research/study design experience preferred
  • Demonstrated analytical capabilities (data analysis, statistical concepts)
  • Experience in Ophthalmology Medical Affairs a plus
  • Experience in the surgical ophthalmic pharmaceutical space a plus
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the pharmaceutical commercialization process and data generation required
  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills
  • Strong leadership and team building
  • Ability to work with and collaborate will all levels and groups
  • Weekly travel and Medical Congress attendance required
