  • Overview

    The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) will be responsible for providing scientific and clinical communication and research support for the Ocular portfolio of assets in his or her identified territory. The MSL will establish, develop and maintain scientific exchange with key opinion leaders and other external stakeholders in alignment with the medical affairs strategy. The MSL will support the relevant medical affairs strategy/ies through an in-depth knowledge of the ophthalmology space.

    Responsibilities

    External Stakeholder Engagement
    •Serve as a key clinical liaison to ophthalmic surgeons
    •Develop and maintain strong relationships with national, regional and local physicians and supporting staff
    •Develop and execute KOL engagement plans
    •Develop and maintain scientific exchange with external stakeholders (physicians, practice administrators, payers)
    •Present clinical and scientific data to healthcare professionals and adjacent stakeholders
    •Develop and maintain relationships with professional associations
    •Communicate company and pipeline updates to key stakeholders

    Competitive Intelligence and Insight Generation
    •Continuously build on existing knowledge of the competitive environment and deliver competitive insights to the home office team(s)
    •Gather customer insights on marketed and pipeline products
    •Through an identified process, regularly deliver field insights and actionable plans, where applicable, to home office teams

    Compliant Cross-Functional Collaboration
    •Provide cross-functional medical input and expertise for other functions
    •Contribute to the creation and validation of medical communication materials
    •Support the execution of congress plans and MSL activities in collaboration with other internal functions
    •Support Clinical Operations through site identification and clinical training
    •Support the training of commercial team members

    Other
    •Demonstrate the values of Ocular Therapeutix
    •Other duties as assigned

    Qualifications

    •Advanced degree with health science background (PharmD, MD, PhD, or OD) preferred
    •4+ years’ experience in Medical Affairs or related fields
    •Experience in the surgical ophthalmic pharmaceutical space preferred, but not required
    •Knowledge and understanding of the pharmaceutical commercialization process and data generation required
    •Excellent verbal & written communication skills
    •Strong leadership and team building
    •Exceptional verbal and written communications skills
    •Ability to work with and collaborate will all levels and groups
    •Ability to travel 75-80%
